I have just read an article in NJ news entitled, “Boil water advisory still in effect in 18 towns after Franklin twp. Water main break“.  If you live in certain areas of Middlesex, Somerset or Union Counties, you may be under a boil water advisory thanks to a water main that burst in Franklin Township on Tuesday.  After Tuesdays break of a water main in Franklin Township, New Jersey American Water officials are urging that residents of 18 Somerset, Middlesex and Union County towns continue to heed a boil water advisory for consumption.

According to this article, the water main break happened at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday on Weston Canal Road and Apgar Drive.  As a result, the police were forced to close the road between School House Road and Apgar Drive.  Though water pressure has been restored to the municipalities affected by the break, repairs are still being made to the water main.  It is still unknown what exactly caused the water main to rupture.

Middlesex town affected by the boil water advisory include Dunellen, Edison, Middlesex, Piscataway and South Plainfield.

Somerset County towns that are being advised to continue boiling water for consumption include Bound Brook, Bridgewater, Green Brook, Hillsborough, Millstone, Montgomery, Raritan, Somerville, and South Bound Brook.

In Union County, affected towns include Clark, Linden, Plainfield and Roselle.

Please contact newjerseywater.com to stay abreast of when and where these water boil advisories are still in effect.
